« From neither the north, nor the south, nor here, nor there, but from elsewhere, on the edge of the construction of globalised art. The artist has to allow himself to establish the outlandish as well as feelings of amazement and awakening. »
A painter, stage designer and theatre director (Ubu in Palestine, presented in Ramallah in 2002), the Paul Ricard'97 Prize laureate now focuses on photography, appearing in her pictures. Her work is a visual protean reflection on the body, which is both the object of her research as well as the media of the work itself. A key figure of feminine art, her work is featured in the Arab World Institute's collections, in Paris. She criticises a certain orientalism made up of fantasies projected on Oriental women, which are presumed to be sensual and lascivious. In her photos, the superimposition of images reflects the engraving process, which she studied at great length, where the successive printing of colour plates makes the image appear in depth and in the fluid sail movements.
